Project Director – GMP Manufacturing Facilities
Location:
East Coast US, ideally Virginia or North Carolina, with flexibility for NY or NJ
Travel:
Regular travel to job sites across the US, plus occasional visits to engineering hubs in India and Europe
We’re partnering with a leading EPC and A+E project delivery organisation to appoint a Project Director to oversee major pharma and biotech capital projects. This is a key strategic hire for someone with a deep understanding of large scale GMP manufacturing facilities and a track record of delivering complex, high value programs for big pharma clients.

What you’ll lead
Full lifecycle delivery of large scale GMP capital projects, from concept through to commissioning and handover.
Multi‑disciplinary teams of engineering, construction, procurement and project controls professionals, ensuring alignment across all workstreams.
Project strategy, governance and execution planning, including risk management, performance tracking, reporting and schedule assurance.
Client engagement at senior level, working closely with big pharma sponsors, site heads, operations leaders and technical SMEs.
Leadership of EPC partners, A+E teams, and construction contractors, ensuring quality, safety and performance meet expectations.
Oversight of engineering centres of excellence, including coordination with global design hubs in India and Europe.
Cost, schedule, change control, procurement, vendor management and commercial leadership across all phases.
What you need to bring
Strong background delivering major capital projects for big pharma or biotech customers, ideally in drug substance, drug product, sterile injectables or large scale biologics.
EPC or A+E project delivery experience on complex facilities, including construction execution, commissioning and validation.
Solid knowledge of the construction landscape across North Carolina, Virginia and wider East Coast markets.
Proven ability to oversee large contractor teams, manage site execution, and navigate construction challenges on fast‑paced programs.
Experience running projects in the $100M+ to $500M+ range, ideally with multiple concurrent workstreams.
Ability to travel regularly to job sites across the US, plus occasional overseas trips as required.
High level stakeholder management skills, with the presence and credibility to influence senior pharma leadership.
