Glenvar High School is a VHSL Class 2A School, and member of the Three Rivers District (TRD) and Region 2C. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.
The Head Boys Tennis Coach will coordinate all aspects of the Boys Tennis program, including student‑athlete development and academic progress, match‑day operations, organizing and leading practices, training sessions, workouts, and budget management.
Will cooperate with the school Principal and/or Athletic Director in the planning, scheduling, and conducting of activities associated with the girl's tennis program. Oversees 6-12 student‑athletes and desired assistant coaches.
Qualifications and Job Responsibilities
Proven integrity and leadership and ability to develop a vision and mission for the program and the ability to communicate those to others.
Plan and conduct safe and effective practices and teach the fundamentals of tennis.
Responsible for the safety of athletes during practices and at all home/away matches.
Planning and delivery of pre‑season Parent's Meeting and post‑season Team Award recognition events.
Work in conjunction with the Boys Tennis program to develop an out‑of‑season and in‑season practice schedule.
Manage team equipment and plan for future needs.
Manage the team budget and plan & coordinate fundraising (as required).
Maintain the Team Roster and validate the team's Master Eligibility List.
Provide regular communications to parents/guardians regarding practice schedule and matches.
Provide clear expectations of conduct and communicate team rules to athletes and parents.
Motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit (within the school) academically and athletically qualified student‑athletes.
Experience as a high school or collegiate tennis player, coach or referee.
High ideals, good habits, and attitudes in behavior and able to demand the same of students.
Support all teams and direct the Boys Tennis program in harmony with the athletic department.
Ability to communicate with both the middle school and high school students to help grow interest in the Boys Tennis program.
