Location: DC Metro, Alpharetta, New York Metro Preferred Join EY as a Chief Architect, Director – Government and Public Sector (GPS). The GPS Chief Architect accelerates the expansion of GPS market opportunities by co‑creating technology‑powered solutions in collaboration with the GPS Service Lines, ensuring all architectural facets are addressed: enterprise, solution, application, data, infrastructure, security, and integration. The role collaborates with GPS field leaders, alliance leaders, business development and GCSPs to identify maximum impact solution opportunities, ensuring alignment with GPS technology solutions and enterprise architecture standards such as scalability, integration, and compliance. The Chief Architect leverages the full capabilities of our Enclave Solution Architects in the co‑creation process, assisting in defining, designing, costing, and facilitating proof‑of‑concept execution. The position leads end‑to‑end architecture of GPS solutions, including selection of application components, robust data models, resilient infrastructure, and comprehensive security controls while collaborating with stakeholders on ideation, concepts, solution design, and supporting EY responses to bids, proof of concepts, and Requests for Proposals. The role plays a key part in teaming with practice and other stakeholders on innovation efforts, integrating emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, IoT, and blockchain where relevant. The Architect teams with the U.S. firm Office of the CTO Chief Architect and other EY architecture teams, including the firm’s global technology layer. Key Responsibilities
Lead alignment of GPS architecture with enterprise standards, ensuring all technology solutions are scalable, interoperable, and secure. Design and implement robust application frameworks and platforms, selecting components that meet business and technical requirements. Define and maintain data models, governance practices, and integration strategies to support analytics, reporting, and operational needs. Architect resilient and cost‑effective infrastructure solutions on‑premises, cloud, or hybrid to support GPS offerings. Develop and execute a comprehensive Enclave liaison and outreach strategy to accelerate practice use of Enclave and increase revenue streams from the Enclave investment. Identify and engage with key practice decision‑makers, stakeholders, and influencers to accelerate awareness, interest, and adoption of Enclave capabilities. Integrate comprehensive security architecture and compliance measures, ensuring protection of sensitive data and regulatory alignment. Facilitate seamless integration between GPS systems, third‑party solutions, and partner platforms for end‑to‑end business processes. Promote DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation across solution delivery to drive efficiency, quality, and agility. Continuously evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies to create competitive advantage within the GPS offerings. Establish and enforce architectural governance, standards, and best practices across the GPS architecture landscape. Analyze technical business solutions using the Enclave and convert them into effective designs that address client or business needs, including reliable, competitive cost structures. Develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to potential Enclave users, demonstrating the value of EY’s compliant cloud hosting solutions and addressing their unique requirements with the aim of accelerating decision‑making processes. Work with GPS contract teams and other EY stakeholders on pattern development. Lead efforts around CAS‑compliant Enclave offerings. Maintain active awareness of the technology space and EY’s Alliance network, supporting the evolution of the Enclave Architecture team and overall Enclave per GPS needs. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing Enclave leaders, understanding their evolving needs and identifying opportunities for optimizing platform solutions in close collaboration with the Enclave Delivery Product Management team. Skills and Attributes for Success
Strong technical background in solution development and design, data architecture and security architecture. Familiarity with TOGAF, Zachman, or similar frameworks to guide architectural governance and strategy. Experience integrating AI/ML, automation, blockchain, or emerging technologies into enterprise solutions to drive innovation. Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) in cloud environments, on‑premise and air‑gapped environments. Ability to define cost‑effective architecture patterns and manage solution budgets, especially in response to RFPs. Strong understanding of cloud hosting technologies, including Government Cloud compliance requirements. Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, expanding market opportunities, and accelerating business outcomes. Familiarity with RFP and RFI processes and ability to quickly assess and respond with recommended technology solutions. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Strong relationship‑building and networking abilities to engage with key decision‑makers. Proven experience in managing and collaborating with technical teams, such as Solution Architects. Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 10‑15 years of experience in technology solution design. Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance. Experience with cloud environment, Azure preferred. Experience establishing and enforcing architectural standards, review boards, and best practices. Comprehensive compensation and benefits package, with base salary range for all U.S. geographic locations $214,300 to $424,300. Base salary ranges for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) are $257,100 to $482,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a variety of factors including education, experience, skills and geography. Medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Hybrid model: most people in external, client‑serving roles to work together in person 40–60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
