Join Outova Shaping the Future of Outdoor Living. Outova is seeking a motivated VP of Outdoor Living Furniture Product Line to join our team, preferably based in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. However, we are open to remote candidates for the right fit. The VP of Outdoor Living Furniture Products will lead and manage the entire furniture product line from concept through manufacturing to go-to-market across distribution channels.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Line Planning

– Define and own product line roadmap: categories, SKUs, design direction, product tiers (value, mid, premium), lifecycle & obsolescence plans. Analyse market trends, consumer insights, competitive landscape, and adjust product strategy accordingly. Work with design/merchandising to propose new products or line extensions.

Overseas Sourcing & Manufacturing Management

– Identify, vet, and manage relationships with overseas manufacturers/factories. Negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, contracts, and quality standards. Implement quality control procedures, supplier audits, compliance, and continuous cost engineering. Monitor manufacturing timelines, coordinate logistics, shipments, customs, landed cost, and risk management.

Product Development & Launch

– Oversee product development process: concept, specification, prototype testing, tooling, production. Ensure quality, compliance, safety, and material sourcing (wood, metal, upholstery, fabrics, finishes, etc.). Coordinate with design, engineering, sourcing, and supply‑chain teams to launch on schedule and budget.

Channel Go‑to‑Market & Merchandising Strategy

– Develop channel‑specific strategies (big box, specialty retail, DTC/e‑commerce, wholesale, contract/hospitality) including assortment, pricing, packaging, merchandising guidelines, and promotional plans. Work with sales, marketing, and e‑commerce teams to support launches and ongoing assortment. Manage KPIs: sell‑through rates, inventory turn, margin by channel, GMROI, markdowns, etc.

Supply Chain & Operations Oversight

– Forecast demand, plan inventory, manage logistics, import/export, warehousing and distribution flows. Optimize inventory levels, minimise lead times, reduce freight/shipping costs, and manage risk.

Financial & Profitability Management

– Own P&L for the product line, set financial targets (revenue, margin, COGS, profitability), budgeting, cost modeling, margin stack analysis, and pricing strategy. Provide regular reporting to executive leadership.

Leadership & Cross‑Functional Management

– Build and manage a cross‑functional team (design, sourcing, supply chain, QA, merchandising, marketing). Foster collaboration, mentor and hire talent, and build regulatory and compliance infrastructure as needed.

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management

– Ensure compliance with product safety standards, import/export regulations, labour standards, and sustainability. Manage potential supply chain disruptions, lead‑time risk, currency changes, and vendor reliability issues.

Brand & Product Story Stewardship

– Ensure products align with brand values, target customer segment, and quality expectations. Oversee product packaging, materials, finishes, and overall customer experience for furniture products.

Qualifications & Experience Required

10+ years in product development, sourcing/manufacturing, and channel merchandising, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Direct experience managing overseas manufacturing (Asia) for furniture or other durable consumer goods.

Strong track record of launching successful products from concept to market, with proven margin and sales results.

Experience managing P&L, budgeting, financial forecasting, cost control, and margin optimisation.

Deep understanding of supply chain, logistics, sourcing, QC, compliance, and import/export processes.

Channel experience: retail, big‑box, e‑commerce, wholesale, or contract/hospitality.

Strong leadership and cross‑functional management skills with a demonstrated ability to build and run teams across design, sourcing, logistics, and marketing.

Excellent negotiation, vendor‑management, and communication skills (domestic & international).

Strategic mindset that balances long‑term vision (brand, product roadmap) with operational execution.

Preferred

– Knowledge of materials, furniture construction, finishes, trends, design sensibility, and sustainability practices.

Bonus / Preferred Qualifications

– Established network of overseas vendors/suppliers, sustainability certifications (e.g., FSC wood, VOC/formaldehyde compliance), experience in home‑furnishing or related industries, private label programs, high‑volume commercial‑grade product lines, industry association membership, and sustainable product development expertise.

Physical Activities Daily activity includes but is not limited to lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting, and regularly lifting/moving up to 50lbs. Noise level is usually moderate to above moderate. Travel up to 60%, domestic and international.
