Where You Will Work District Four – Transportation Development

Your Specific Responsibilities Manages and performs engineering work for design projects with general supervision. Signs and seals plans or documents as requested. Projects include rural highway capacity projects, interstate resurfacing projects, urban arterial resurfacing projects, bridge rehabilitation, bridge replacement and mobility projects. Coordinates phases of work among consultants and other disciplines to maintain schedules; updates production project schedules; develops contract scope of services; coordinates contract execution; approves invoices; prepares supplemental agreements; ensures contractual processing meets Department criteria. Maintains current memoranda and detail plan indexes; coordinates plan revisions; attends meetings and field reviews; serves as liaison and spokesperson with public, federal, state and local agencies; provides periodic reports to management; reviews consultants’ work packages including plans, submittals and technical reports; advises project managers and consultants on technical work; assists unit manager and District Consultant Project Management Engineer; prepares reports and presentations.

Managing multiple priorities and making timely decisions to keep projects within budget and meet department requirements

Working with the public, consultants, government officials and regulatory agencies to maintain effective working relationships

Preparing and reviewing engineering reports

Ability To

Work independently and make decisions

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Monitor and assess the performance of consultants

Utilize engineering design skills to identify and resolve issues necessary to implement solutions to meet product quality and schedule

Build teams and get them focused on a common goal

Define issues, facilitate meetings, organize presentations knowledgeably and clearly to all levels of participants (plain language)

Utilize a personal computer

Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements Registration as a Professional Engineer, in accordance with Chapter 471, F.S.

Minimum Qualifications Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Florida Statute 471.
