Job Summary As a Learning Data Analyst on the Southwest Airlines University (SWA U) Business Intelligence Team, you will transform raw data into actionable insights that shape learning strategies and improve performance across the organization. Using your expertise in data analysis, dashboard creation, and data integration, you will deliver clear and impactful visualizations that empower leaders to make informed decisions. Your work will measure the effectiveness of training programs and optimize resource use within Southwest Airlines University, ultimately driving operational excellence and supporting the growth and development of our People. By turning data into knowledge, you will play a vital role in strengthening Southwest Airlines’ commitment to learning, innovation, and delivering exceptional experiences for both Employees and Customers.

Responsibilities

Applies knowledge and Customer needs analysis to create the proper solution to meet the need

Analyze and mitigate risk related to tools and projects

Partners with Senior Learning Business Intelligence Analysts as necessary for project success

Applies knowledge of data cleansing techniques and tools such as Alteryx, data visualization tools such as Tableau and other data analytics tools, to create insights to support data and visualization requests

Applies knowledge of SQL, Python or other reporting languages or tools, to create and maintain advanced solutions for reporting training data

Provides data troubleshooting for Business Customers

Gather and interpret requirements to transform business needs into actionable data presentation requirements and present findings

Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to quickly recognize and clearly define problems to systematically analyze and weigh alternatives to propose solutions.

Ability to work under stressful situations and manage time effectively

Ability to prioritize tasks to meet department objectives and goals

Be a self-starter and able to work with a minimum amount of supervision to accomplish assignments and projects

Understanding of Company policies (ex: Appearance and Attendance) and expectations of SWA Culture

Ability to work effectively individually or in a strong Customer Service and/or team environment

Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as required

Ability to work under tight time constraints and at times, in stressful situations

Ability to design and conduct analyses, as well as synthesize recommendations

Ability to develop, present, and effectively communicate strategies and ideas to a variety of audiences

Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:

Acquiring data using various tools such as: SQL, Python, Alteryx, Qlik, Attunity, or other similar toolsets.

Visualization and presentation experience

Preferred: Experience in Tableau, Alteryx and Excel

Preferred: Experience with reporting and query development

Licensing/Certification

N/A

Physical Abilities

Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time

Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.

Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

Pay & Benefits Competitive market salary from $81,200 per year to $90,200 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
