Job Summary and Qualifications
Advance a patient safety program that promotes a culture of safety and the elimination of avoidable harm.
Prevent future harm by initiating and overseeing proactive evaluation and redesign of systems to improve care processes.
Report, investigate and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks.
Perform patient safety rounds that identify safety risks; empower staff to participate in resolution.
Coordinate disclosure of serious events to patients and/or families in accordance with policy and regulations.
Ensure timely reporting of Patient Safety Work Product to the Patient Safety Organization.
Champion completion of Culture of Safety Survey.
Work with legal counsel to coordinate investigation and defense of claims against the facility; manage records and provide documents to attorneys, maintaining PSWP privilege.
Qualifications
Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS), obtained within one year of employment start date.
RN preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree at hire or to be obtained within one year.
Two or more years of recent healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, or quality.
Experience in a clinical setting such as hospital or ambulatory surgery center.
