Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer for the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team, to work compliance on the Sentinel program. This position is located in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program.
Responsibilities Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
The selected engineer may be responsible for multiple tasks within requirements, verification, and interfaces for the Sentinel program from an EMI/EMC perspective. Responsibilities include interface definition, requirement decomposition, compliance tracking, verification planning, and verification execution.
Basic Qualifications This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T‑03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T‑04).
Principal Systems Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 3 years with a Master’s degree, 1 year with a PhD
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience; 6 years with a Master’s, 4 years with a PhD
Required for Both Levels
Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance at the time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and engineering scheduling tools or applications
2+ years of systems engineering experience
2+ years working in requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS)
Preferred Qualifications
Past/active employment with MMIII or Sentinel Weapon Systems
Experience with MIL-STD-464C
Experience with MIL-STD-461G
Experience with EMI/EMC principles
4+ years of systems engineering experience
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
Experience with complex system development on large programs
Experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORS, Cameo, Teamcenter, CPLM, Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.)

Employees are eligible for a range of benefits, have a 9/80 work schedule (nine-hour days Monday through Thursday, alternate Fridays off), and may receive a competitive relocation assistance package.
Salary Primary Level: $98,400 – $147,600
Secondary Level: $122,800 – $184,200
The salary range is a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope of responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions when determining base pay. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for long‑term incentives. The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the posting date but may be shortened or extended.
