Position: FT Perfusion Services - Variable work schedule. Ability to work on Call required.
Responsibilities
Operate extracorporeal circulation equipment during medical situations to support or replace cardiopulmonary, circulatory, or respiratory function.
Select appropriate equipment and techniques for support, treatment, measurement, or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system under physician supervision.
Monitor, analyze, and maintain records of perfusion-related data during surgery.
Monitor sterilization and integrity of disposable equipment and ensure correct setup, operation, and breakdown of equipment.
Monitor cell saver and operate the heart-lung machine, blood gas analysis machine, clotting time/heparin analyzer, and cardiac-assist devices.
Administer drugs and solutions required for extracorporeal circulation in accordance with industry best practices and policies.
Adjust gas flow and mixtures, administer anesthetic agents, blood, drugs, and fluids via the extracorporeal circuit to ensure safe and effective procedures.
Record perfusion information during surgery and maintain records after surgery.
Perform quality control/preventive maintenance to ensure equipment accuracy and longevity; maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
Qualifications
Education – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited perfusion program.
Experience – 1–2 years of intermediate level perfusion experience preferred; willingness to teach and train cardiology fellows and students during clinical rotations.
Certification/License – Cert Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) and Licensed Perfusionist (PERFUSIO) – Texas Medical Board at time of hire/transfer.
Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS required or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
