Warehouse Optimization Manager, GreenBox Apply for the Warehouse Optimization Manager, GreenBox role at Symbotic.

Who We Are With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high‑density, end‑to‑end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.

What We Need The Warehouse Optimization Manager is responsible for accurately placing and organizing inventory within the warehouse storage systems. As a key member of the site operations team, you will help establish inventory (slotting) procedures and best practices for future sites, follow slotting plans, optimize storage locations, adjust slot assignments as needed, assist in WMS configurations, and ensure products are easily accessible for receiving, putaway, picking, shipping and all fulfilment operations. The role will work closely with inventory control, warehouse operations, WMS integrators, automation system teams and planners.

What You’ll Do

Create, receive and review slotting instructions or plans (location assignments, storage parameters, product‑to‑slot mapping, automation vs conventional storage decisions).

Communicate collaborative item moves (cases, pallets, containers) to the operations team and ops leadership.

Update inventory management/warehouse management system (WMS) or automation software with slotting data and confirm items are in the correct locations.

Optimize slot and technology locations by product velocity, size/weight, packaging type, pick frequency, customer needs and safety considerations.

Reorganize or relocate inventory when slotting changes or when products need re‑slotting due to shifts in demand or SKU changes.

Evaluate workflow, in coordination with picking/fulfilment teams, ensuring slot locations support efficient picking operations.

Conduct regular audits of slot locations – verify items are in correct slots, slot labels/barcodes are visible and accurate, and correct discrepancies with the inventory control team.

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the slotting area: ensure aisles are clear, signage and floor markings are adhered to, equipment is stored correctly, and no hazards exist.

Adhere to safety, quality and performance standards – including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe forklift operation (if applicable), and compliance with company policies.

Assist with ad‑hoc tasks as needed: cycle counts, inventory replenishment, staging for shipping, or inbound receiving support.

What You’ll Need

High school diploma; bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in slotting, warehouse inventory management, or material handling supervision in a distribution/fulfilment center.

Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift) safely; forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Strong attention to detail – accurate placement and system updates are critical.

Ability to read slotting plans, maps or warehouse diagrams and translate them into physical tasks.

Comfortable performing moderate to heavy physical activity (standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly, climbing ladders or steps, maneuvering pallets).

Ability to work in a fast‑paced warehouse environment, follow shifting priorities, and maintain organization under pressure.

Basic computer skills – familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), Microsoft Office, RF scanning and equipment.

Good communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.

Flexibility to work various shifts as needed (day, evening, weekend) and overtime as required.

Experience working in an automated warehouse environment or with robotics systems (GreenBox’s operations leverage automation and AI technology).

Knowledge of process improvement, lean practices or warehouse optimisation.

Our Environment

Travel may be required for up to 40% of the time – assisting at multiple facilities. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

Large distribution facility (Warehouse environment – may include areas with ambient temperature variations from 60‑105 °F).

Frequent walking, standing, climbing, reaching, lifting, pushing/pulling.

Use of warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, mobile devices).

Exposure to warehouse noise, moving machinery, conveyor systems and standard warehouse hazards – appropriate PPE and safety training required.

Shift work – could include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime depending on operational needs.
