Project Engineer II

Overview The Project Engineer II assists in the management, supervision, and performance of planning, design, construction and maintenance of structures and facilities. They evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment to make substantial adaptations and modifications to project plans. The role seeks an individual who can identify opportunities to add value and help achieve the client’s desired project outcome.
Essential Functions
Exercises and manages functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects.
Plans and formulates management processes; organizes project staff per project requirements.
Reviews design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
Coordinates activities related to scheduling and resolving engineering design and construction problems.
Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
Controls and reports expenditures within project budget limits to the client and senior staff.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Reviews project plans and proposals; works with management to develop objectives; identifies project responsibilities and timeframes.
Prepares and distributes a description and timeline of the project.
Studies product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; determines project specifications; presents cost estimates and performance standards.
Reviews contractor bids; assigns personnel; oversees technical aspects via project coordination meetings and other communication forms.
Prepares status reports; monitors budgets, contractors, and schedules; allocates resources appropriately; approves expenditures; maintains accurate records.
Maintains a positive attitude and demonstrates professionalism.
Completes work accurately and timely, with multi‑tasking ability.
Demonstrates excellent oral, written communication skills, tact, diplomacy, and strong customer service orientation.
Prioritizes work activities; handles multiple duties as assigned.
Maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Follows RLB’s policies and procedures, including handling confidential proprietary information.
Collaborates to strengthen team performance through effective communication.
Understands and supports client desired outcomes; identifies value‑adding opportunities.
Assists with additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: 4‑year college degree in architecture, construction management, or engineering science.
Minimum Experience: 3–8 years of relevant proven experience.
Preferred Experience: Airports, renovations, QA/QC, or construction administration.
Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio). Strong knowledge in specific engineering fields; familiarity with general contractor procedures is a plus.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
Office environment – primarily computer and telephone use.
On‑site work may involve ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and use of legs/arms; body agility emphasized.
Tasks may include sitting, standing for long periods, walking, carrying, pushing, stooping, crouching, and pulling; may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
