The Opportunity EY Private Tax is a growing practice within the organization, dedicated to serving privately held companies. These clients span from family‑owned businesses to private equity‑owned companies, all high‑growth private entities. With a diverse portfolio of challenging work, you will impact technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects and be supported and trained by knowledgeable colleagues. Opportunities exist to progress to senior manager.

Your Key Responsibilities

Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and some partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements such as foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, and foreign affiliate reporting.

Provide tax research, draft tax memoranda, and assist in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.

Identify and communicate significant tax matters to Senior Managers, Managing Directors and Partners.

Liaise and develop relationships with other service lines and subject‑matter professionals.

Build effective long‑term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs to provide tailored service.

Communicate complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients.

Maintain reputation by continuously updating and sharing technical and best‑practice knowledge.

Manage, coach and develop a team of tax professionals, review work and ensure they have the knowledge, tools and opportunities to excel.

Identify and react to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.

Skills And Attributes For Success

A bachelor's degree in a related field, supported by tax, business or financial planning experience.

CPA certification or membership in the Bar.

Prior experience with ASC 740 tax provisions.

Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or a professional tax organization.

Commitment to continuous learning.

Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH IntelliConnect, OneSource, BNA or LexisNexis.

Experience working in a balanced hybrid environment and willingness to travel as needed.

Experience managing, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

What We Offer You

A comprehensive compensation and benefits package with a base salary range of $106,500 to $195,100 (all U.S. locations) and $127,700 to $221,700 for select metro areas. Total Rewards include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and paid time off options.
