Who You Are A NPI Engineer focused on developing and implementing fabrication and assembly processes for low‑volume, high‑precision products. You will manage product transfer across multiple sites, ensuring seamless transition from New Product Development to full production release.
What You Will Do
Design production tooling/fixtures for quality and assembly consistency
Develop assembly work instructions
Set up and support new product lines
Create time standards and operation steps
Apply knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal, PCBA, wire harness, box build, and 3D printing
Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFX)
Prepare Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
Specific Responsibilities
Plan, design, and implement manufacturing and assembly processes for new product development
Manage the NPI build process and report design and build issues
Work with design engineers to determine critical-to-function features and optimal manufacturing methods
Review fabrication and assembly drawings for accuracy and tolerances
Determine parts, equipment, and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals
Design tooling and fixturing for production and quality control
Develop and optimize process flow and work instructions
Support low‑volume production to verify process plans and targets for quality, safety, efficiency, and cost
Maximize production efficiency by analyzing equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization
Identify equipment/resource constraints and opportunities
Lead Root Cause Corrective Actions using methods such as 8D, 5‑Why, DAMAIC, Fish Bone
What You Need
BS in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD/3D modeling software
Familiarity with Gerber/PCB software (viewers)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Minimum 2 years of electronics manufacturing experience
Knowledge of ISO, IPC, and J‑Standard
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Team leadership and organizational skills
Salary Range $74,157 – $87,345 annually, based on experience and skills. A full benefits package is provided.
Location Spellman High Voltage headquarters, Hauppauge, NY (on‑site presence required).
