Position Description
Origis Energy is seeking an experienced M&A professional to lead and execute the company’s utility‑scale solar and energy storage business growth strategies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of sourcing, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, and closing attractive project and portfolio acquisitions and dispositions.
The role will serve as an integral leadership position as part of a high‑performing M&A team responsible for all aspects of profitable growth, expansion via mergers and acquisitions, and capital recycling. The
Director Mergers & Acquisitions , reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, is a regular, full‑time position, and is eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer‑paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions, and other benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Execute the company’s M&A strategies in alignment with growth and shareholder return objectives
Lead the origination, analysis, structuring, documentation, and execution of utility‑scale solar and storage project acquisitions and dispositions
Analyze different markets through an investment lens and make recommendations for M&A activity; such analysis would include an assessment of the political, regulatory, legal, and tax environment for a given market, along with supply/demand and other economic considerations
Establish and maintain relationships with advisors, brokers, and developers to source attractive opportunities aligned with the company’s business objectives and underwriting criteria
Perform project due diligence across various functional areas, as applicable, including interconnection, real‑estate, permitting, environmental, EPC, and project operations
Work closely with in‑house and external counsel along with the CIO to review, negotiate and close purchase and sale agreements, joint development, and partnership agreements
Manage post‑acquisition development, financing, and commercial obligations and activities
Communicate with other departments within the company—including Development, Origination, Capital Markets, Engineering, and Accounting—on transaction details as well as business planning and work processes
Prepare presentations and analysis necessary to obtain internal investment committee and company Board approvals
Maintain opportunity pipeline reporting, as well as department budgets, forecasts, and acquisition financing needs in coordination with the CIO
Explore and lead improvements in acquisition opportunity screening and analysis
Be responsible for various internal administrative functions which are required to support acquisitions
Provide hands‑on leadership, guidance, mentorship, training, and performance management to M&A team members
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
Minimum 7 years of relevant renewable energy industry experience in business development, M&A, project finance, or corporate development
Experience serving in a transaction leadership role; preferably within a renewable energy development or IPP business
Advanced knowledge of solar, solar + storage, and stand‑alone storage markets and economics
Established relationships with renewable sector advisors, brokers, and developers
Experience in financial modeling and valuation analysis of relevant projects and markets; including advanced Excel skills
Strong commercial, technical, analytical, and creative transaction structuring abilities
Rigorous and detail‑oriented with the highest regard for accuracy and completeness
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, integrated team environment
Key Attributes for Success
Ability to maintain discipline and focus on acquisition and disposition strategies; filter and pursue only value‑accretive opportunities
Ability to identify, quantify and mitigate risks; realize opportunities
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and leadership skills

Ability to multi‑task and work in a very fast‑paced environment
