Department: Brockton Behavioral Health Center Schedule: Per Diem Responsibilities
Under general direction of the Nurse Manager, provide direct patient care to psychiatric patients. Conduct nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families across the health care continuum. Be accountable for clinical, educational, quality and fiscal patient care outcomes using the unit’s model of care and in accordance with agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines and standards of practice. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to address the mental, emotional or behavioral disorders of patients engaged in services. Assist in consistently applying standards of care and nursing process: assessment, data analysis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Document interventions and communicate effectively with the health care team, patients and families; identify and respond to emergency/crisis situations in a timely manner. Implement and monitor plans of care and ensure continuity of care with client, family, and behavioral health care team. Prioritize, delegate, and supervise nursing activities while maintaining a safe, clean unit environment and practicing safe care with required clinical skills and equipment. Essential Qualifications / Knowledge & Skills
Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; BSN required within four years of hire. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts or eligible for reciprocity prior to start; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS may be required for some units. Knowledge of professional nursing principles, psychiatric care, crisis prevention and de-escalation; understanding of psychotropic medications and side effects; knowledge of state and federal regulations for inpatient psychiatric settings. Ability to provide effective leadership in high-stress situations; strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and critical-thinking skills; ability to delegate appropriately. Physical ability to meet core job requirements; ability to manage stress; multilingual skills preferred. Experience

Two education blocks: Associate’s Degree in Nursing; BSN within four years of hire. Licensure: Massachusetts RN license or reciprocity; BLS required; ACLS as applicable; additional unit-specific certifications as needed. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles, psychiatric disorders, crisis management, and safe patient care practices. Ability to document, communicate and collaborate effectively with patients, families and health care teams. Proficiency with basic computer systems and clinical documentation; ability to engage in quality improvement and evidence-based practice. Compensation
Salary range: $36.15 - $75.50 per hour. This range reflects minimum qualifications; final offers depend on education, experience, licensure/certifications and overall compensation package including benefits.
