Job Overview
This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The RN collaborates collegially with physicians and other health‑care team members to meet patient needs and may delegate certain aspects of care to those supervised, within the scope of nursing practice.
Job Requirements
Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing
New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers)
Registered Nurse license
Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health‑care needs across various stages of the life cycle.
Preferred Membership in Related Professional Organization RNs with more than 1 year full‑time or 2 years part‑time acute care experience.
Job Responsibilities
Preferred certification in specialty.
Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patient and family; completes assessment tools, documents findings per TriHealth guidelines, and communicates results to other health‑care providers. Includes health counseling and teaching needs.
Plans and initiates individualized care plans or clinical pathways based on assessment and standards of care; updates plans as needed; develops short‑ and long‑term goals with patient, family, and team, including discharge planning; communicates plan to others.
Provides a safe, therapeutic environment, maintains patient autonomy, dignity, and rights, and is sensitive to patient diversity. Seeks resources for ethical decision‑making, balances priorities of the patient and unit, recognizes emergencies, completes documentation within scheduled timeframes, bases interventions on clinical data and outcomes, trains/educates staff, acts as expert resource, and effectively executes physician orders.
Evaluates care plans for optimal patient outcomes, documents patient and family responses, collaborates with the team to revise plans, and supervises delegated care.
Performs technical skills per policy and procedure, administers medications/treatments safely, monitors effects, and uses equipment appropriately.
Demonstrates organizational responsibilities: identifies self‑improvement areas, functions in relief charge/resource roles as requested, completes assignments on time, collaborates with instructors for student learning, maintains current practice knowledge, and stays informed of organizational and departmental changes.
