Director, Software Engineering
As a Capital One Director of Software Engineering, you will work on cutting‑edge AI‑based applications to power the future of marketing. You will lead teams to build a fully automated agentic flow that eliminates inefficiencies from the campaign creation process, instrumenting various marketing flows within a campaign to simplify attribution, tracking and troubleshooting. This is an opportunity to redefine enterprise tooling for marketing in the age of LLMs. Your technologies will include Python, Java, Vue.js, Postgres, Dynamo DB, vector stores like Milvus, and AWS‑based infrastructure deployments.
Responsibilities
Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product‑focused software engineers
Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team
Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
Continuously improve software engineering practices
Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full‑stack development tools and technologies
Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting‑edge technologies, inclusion, outside‑of‑the‑box thinking, teamwork, self‑organization, and diversity
Improve velocity for your and other teams
Deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments
Break existing monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 7 years’ experience in software development
At least 5 years’ experience in people management
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering
10+ years’ experience in software development
5+ years’ experience in Agile practices
Salary & Benefits
McLean, VA: $263,900 – $301,200 (Director, Software Engineering)
New York, NY: $287,800 – $328,500 (Director, Software Engineering)
Richmond, VA: $239,900 – $273,800 (Director, Software Engineering)
