Associate Director, Enterprise Database Services – Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, GA.
Location: 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA; also possible work from Marietta, GA campus.
Regular, full‑time position. Job ID 292339.
Provides leadership for the university’s enterprise database services while maintaining active involvement in technical work. Leads the team responsible for managing database platforms that support mission‑critical systems such as the Student Information System, administrative applications, and auxiliary applications. Ensures database services are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership for enterprise database and application administration services.
Lead the administration and optimization of enterprise database environments, including Oracle, SQL Server, and other platforms.
Manage database backup, recovery, high‑availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
Design and implement database and application migration strategies for cloud and hybrid environments.
Ensure compliance with governance, privacy, and security policies (FERPA, HIPAA, PCI).
Oversee Ellucian Banner administration and ensure system availability and performance.
Monitor performance and implement proactive measures for scalability, efficiency, and reliability.
Collaborate with stakeholders, application owners, and IT leadership to align services with institutional priorities.
Develop and mentor staff, provide professional growth opportunities, training, and performance management.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend tools that improve database services and operational efficiency.
Foster a culture of curiosity, continuous improvement, ownership, and data‑informed decision making.
Qualifications Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Required Experience:
Seven (7) years of related IT experience.
Preferred Educational Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a related field.
Preferred Experience:
Managing multiple Oracle, SQL Server, or similar databases; experience in higher education IT, Ellucian Banner and DegreeWorks administration; experience with Ellucian Ethos integration; experience with cloud‑based Student Information Systems such as Workday Student or Banner Student SaaS.

Lead large, complex projects with tight coordination across IT and business units.
Handle multiple tasks or projects to deadlines.
Expertise in enterprise database administration (Oracle, SQL Server) and cloud‑based databases.
Hands‑on experience with performance tuning, backup & recovery, replication, clustering, high‑availability.
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure services, migration strategies, cost management.
Database and application security practices, encryption, access management, auditing.
Strong interpersonal, problem‑solving, communication, organization, project management, customer service orientation.
Proficiency in automation and scripting (PL/SQL, T‑SQL, Python, Linux shell, PowerShell).
