Medical Science Liaison - Glaucoma Portfolio
Alcon, a global leader in eye care, seeks a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) focused on the glaucoma portfolio. The MSL will strategically support the adoption of Alcon products by facilitating evidence generation, scientific exchange, and gathering insights to inform product and market understanding.
Responsibilities
Serve as Project Lead for Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs) from inception to publication.
Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific exchange and insights, providing detailed knowledge of FDA‑approved Alcon products, current research, and publications.
Guide Alcon‑registered clinicians through the concept endorsement, synopsis review, and grant approval processes for IITs.
Foster KOL/HCP interest and engagement in data/evidence generation through IITs, maintaining peer‑to‑peer scientific relationships with KOLs and decision‑makers.
Deliver effective medical presentations to ECPs and collect and report insights.
Support educational efforts, including wet‑lab activities by proctoring events and being onsite as required.
Provide up‑to‑date medical support to healthcare associations, ensuring evidence‑based understanding of Alcon products relative to medical guidelines.
Regularly collect, analyze, and report insights from scientific exchanges that may impact company development plans, trial designs, launch, and brand strategies.
Represent Alcon at customer sites, congresses, symposia, and training events with up‑to‑date scientific and clinical information.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (e.g., 15 yrs high school +, 11 yrs associate, 4 yrs master’s, 3 yrs PhD).
Fluency in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in English.
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in ophthalmology or optometry.
Preferred Education and Experience
MD, DO, or OD specializing in Ophthalmology.
Advanced knowledge of eye diseases, particularly glaucoma and optometry.
Experience in an ophthalmology or optometry field (academia, industry, clinical practice) and in an ECP‑facing role.
Working knowledge of the Healthcare System, research procedures, ICH guidelines, GCP, and other ethical guidelines.
Essential knowledge of clinical trial design, product development, regulatory requirements, payer landscape, and lifecycle management.
Experience in scientific presentations and basic medical writing and biostatistics.
Proven ability to develop and foster peer‑to‑peer, credible relationships with medical experts and decision‑makers.
