Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. The role includes the following Clinical Nurse duties: assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care needs of a designated group of patients or providing nursing care and identified clinical support tasks within the scope of practice to achieve the patient’s plan of care as directed. Requires a nursing license. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills. This is a senior level role requiring advanced knowledge of the job area through education and experience. Typical responsibilities include managing projects/processes, working independently with limited supervision, coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals, and resolving difficult problems.

The professional registered nurse possesses and applies the skills and knowledge necessary for the delivery and management of patient care from admission through discharge. The nurse stays informed about current trends in healthcare, including advances in technology, pharmacology, and treatment modalities. The nurse serves as a patient and family advocate while fostering a cooperative and collaborative environment among health care providers. The nurse plans, delivers, and manages patient/family-centered care using the nursing process and adheres to standards of nursing practice embedded in research, evidence-based practice, and best practices. Minimum Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) relevant to the department and type of care being provided may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Specialty nursing certifications.
Duties and Responsibilities

Utilizes theoretical and evidence-based knowledge to partner with patients and their families to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate care.
Collaborates with patient, family/significant others, and other disciplines to identify expected outcomes and to develop a care plan that considers cultural needs and facilitates the health care experience.
Plans and develops individualized outcomes-based care plans, orchestrates and validates the plan of care for each shift, initiates interdisciplinary patient/family meetings, and coordinates discharge planning with unit-based and community resources.
Implements the plan safely and timely; documents implementation and modifications; collaborates with nursing colleagues and others; applies evidence-based interventions; provides health teaching; documents all aspects of care per hospital and regulatory requirements.
Evaluates the effectiveness of planned strategies and updates the plan of care based on patient response and outcomes.
Demonstrates the knowledge and judgment to implement the nursing plan of care with critical thinking; integrates evidence-based practice and culturally sensitive care for diverse patients and families.
Performs procedures and treatments according to unit guidelines and professional standards.
Safely administers medications and monitors patient responses according to pharmacology knowledge and standards of care.
Maintains clinical competency with respect to technology and equipment safety.
Acts as an advocate and educator for patients and families; uses data trends to support improvements in clinical practice.
Participates in safety, quality, and performance improvement activities and supports patient safety initiatives.
Collaborates with nursing colleagues and other disciplines to implement the plan of care and participates in rounds.
Delegates appropriately and promotes a climate of professional development and service excellence.
Maintains professional development, licensure, and competency requirements; seeks opportunities for advanced certification and ongoing education.
May assume charge nurse functions in collaboration with unit leadership.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged standing/walking.
Lift, position, push, and transfer patients and equipment.
Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Regular exposure to hazards, including chemicals, infectious agents, noise, and potential radiation or other hazards.
Risk of bloodborne pathogens and other transmissible infections.
Skills & Abilities
Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan with awareness of development and cultural factors.
Deliver care per unit guidelines and hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
