The Transfer Specialist is responsible for the care, removal, and transport of deceased. This position collaborates with team members as required to ensure processes and procedures remain compliant. The specialist safely and courteously drives company‑owned vehicles, maintains vehicle cleanliness, and presents a professional appearance when in contact with families; casual attire is acceptable while performing vehicle maintenance.
Job Responsibilities
Safely drive company‑owned professional vehicles to perform “first‑call” transfer of deceased in accordance with local and state/provincial laws and company policies.
Cooperate with first responders, coroner, hospital staff, or senior living facility and accommodate their processes and procedures.
For home transfers, courteously and professionally interact with bereaved family members; exhibit sensitivity to the environment and minimize conversation. Follow company procedures for transferring soiled garments, bedding, or other materials; leave a warm and courteous first impression.
Enter deceased event information into proprietary software according to company procedures.
Transport caskets to airports, care centers, or funeral homes; assist with moving caskets.
Vehicle Maintenance
Wash, vacuum, and clean vehicles to ensure they are presentable.
Fuel vehicles as necessary.
Follow safety guidelines and expenditure processes.
Maintain personal protective and transfer supplies in vehicles, including cleaning products.
Identify vehicle engine or operating issues and report to management; drive vehicles for repair or inspection as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Licenses:
Current state/province‑issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Experience:
At least one year working as a courier or driver with direct customer interaction strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work a schedule that supports business needs, including weekends and nights.
Ability to work an on‑call rotation with weekends, nights, and holidays.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally; push/pull up to 200 pounds.
Ability to drive in hazardous, heavy‑traffic, and inclement‑weather conditions.
Basic computer skills required.
Work Conditions
Work indoors and/or outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions.
Local and/or multiple location travel required.
Comply with Field dress code policy.
Frequent, continuous periods of standing, up 6 hours per day.
Climbing stairs to access buildings frequently.
Physical effort requiring manual dexterity (paperwork, calculators, computers, phone usage).

Working beyond “standard” hours as the need arises.
Local travel up to 100% using company vehicle.
Compensation Salary: $20.00 per hour
