Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring fresh open-heart experience and strong cardiovascular skills.
Responsibilities
Work in the CVICU of a hospital with a focus on post-open-heart and cardiac surgery patients
Care for a variety of critical care cases including post-CABG, valve repairs, aortic repairs, TAVR, septic shock, neurosurgery, and ARDS
Float to Intermediate Care (IMC) and general ICU units as needed
Unit includes 6 specialized CV beds within a 38-bed ICU
Patient ratios are 1:1 for the first 8-12 hours post-op, transitioning to 1:2 as appropriate
Specialized equipment includes CRRT (Nxt Stage), IABP, Artic Sun, Vigeleo, Hemosphere, EVD, PCA, and Camino monitors
Day shift, three 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 to 19:00
Required to work 4 weekend shifts in every 4-week period (12 weekends per 12-week contract duration)
No routine use of Impellas, VADs, or ECMO, but may assist with temporary ECMO cannulation
Responsibilities include managing complex cardiovascular and critically ill patient populations
CVICU RNs must be competent in post-open-heart recovery and care of patients with advanced cardiac diagnoses
This is a new and growing CV surgery program, offering opportunities for professional development
Work in a collaborative ICU team environment with access to advanced monitoring and support equipment
References required for consideration
Candidates must provide a copy of driver's license and Social Security card
Requirements
Active MD or compact RN license
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a fast-paced CICU or CVICU setting
Proven experience caring for post-open-heart (fresh hearts) patients
Ability to float to other ICU and IMC units as needed
