Job Description AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer III (Mid-Level Structural Engineer) to be based in Denver, CO. This Structural Engineer will support a wide range of projects across industries including commercial, industrial, government, aviation, and technology, parking structures, and infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to develop analytical and design skills while focusing on adaptive reuse, condition assessments, seismic design/retrofits (where applicable), advanced structural analysis methods, and overseeing complex projects. The engineer will work closely with senior team members on large-scale projects while taking independent ownership of smaller assignments—managing design, analysis, reporting, and coordination. This position is ideal for a highly skilled engineer who wants to grow technical expertise while gaining increasing project management and leadership responsibility.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the Structural Engineering practice in the Denver Buildings and Places team.
Assist with and/or lead the design of buildings and other structures in a variety of markets, such as commercial, government, institutional, aviation, technology, and infrastructure.
Lead and manage structural engineering projects from conception to completion, including handling complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
Manage engineers and other staff to complete projects on schedule, staying within given scope and budget.
Coordinate with other engineering and architecture disciplines in producing construction documents.
Prepare designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, specifications, reports, schematic drawings, and final working drawings for a variety of projects.
Perform advanced structural analysis and design calculations for complex structures.
Perform construction administration tasks as contracts require, including coordinating with construction professionals, reviewing shop drawings, visiting sites, and answering RFIs.
Occasionally be responsible for reviewing the designs and calculations of other engineers.
Occasionally provide guidance and/or mentorship to less‑experienced engineers.
Perform condition assessments and site visits as needed.
Develop and review structural drawings, specifications, and reports.
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior‑level team member.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program, and Four (4) years or more of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to acquire in Colorado within 6 months.
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with industry‑standard design software (AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam).
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks, track progress, and meet deadlines across concurrent projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
6+ years of progressive experience.
Extensive experience using Autodesk Revit to produce structural engineering documents.
Experience in ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, RAM Structural, RAM Concept, Tedds, or LPile.
Familiarity with seismic design/retrofits and advanced analysis methods.

Compensation Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $95,000 to $125,000.
