Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Warren, NJ
We invite a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to join a leading engineering and consulting firm, delivering innovative solutions across transportation, utilities, energy, and commercial development projects.
Job Summary The incumbent will conduct comprehensive geotechnical investigations, analyze soil and rock properties, produce detailed reports, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success and compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive geotechnical investigations and studies to assess soil, rock, and underground water characteristics and their impact on proposed construction.
Utilize field sampling methods and laboratory analyses to determine soil and rock properties.
Evaluate and calculate soil bearing capacity and other geotechnical parameters for design purposes.
Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including recommendations for construction design and risk management.
Collaborate with engineers, geologists, architects, and construction personnel to ensure project success.
Monitor and manage geotechnical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
Provide expert advice on geotechnical issues, including soil and foundation engineering, slope stability, and ground risk management.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in geotechnical engineering and incorporate them into practices and processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
At least 1-3 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record of managing successful projects.
Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, and earthworks construction.
Proficiency in testing, field sampling methods, laboratory analyses, and the evaluation/calculation of soil bearing capacity.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make sound engineering judgments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and present complex information effectively.
Proficiency in using geotechnical software tools and other relevant computer applications.
Strong commitment to safety and ethical standards in all aspects of the work.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
