Project Engineer (Civil/Structural Engineer) Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. Anchorage, AK (JBER)

Base Pay $120,000.00/yr – $135,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

Serve as technical expert and advisor for control of civil and structural systems and related steel and welding features for federal construction projects.

Perform advisory, consulting and review duties involving civil/structural systems problems or non-compliance.

Review contract documents, including plans and specifications, for constructability and non-compliance.

Participate in all phases of the contract modification process, preparing scopes of work for RFPs, government estimates, contractor proposal reviews and contract modification documentation.

Assist with steel and welding inspections, quality assurance, contract administration and technical expertise.

Document reviews and analyze contractor plans and submittals for approval action, including progress schedules, environmental, safety and quality control programs, certifications and shop drawings.

Prepare correspondence regarding contractor performance, Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs), Requests for Information (RFIs) and other technical issues.

Prepare partial and final payment estimates, including measurement and computation of pay item quantities, verification of materials on hand and percentage complete of lump sum items.

Demonstrate steel and steel connection experience; experience in weld design and compliance review; non-destructive inspection (NDI) experience; AISC certification.

Monitor and document scheduled progress of all construction activities and advise the Resident Engineer, COR and project team of potential slippage or delay.

Execute RFI and submittal reviews, coordinate with designers and technical experts and respond to contractors.

Review and provide technical assistance with HEMP Shielding, Radio Frequency (RF) Shield and ICD 705 construction requirements; interface with Designer of Record for technical changes or questions.

Maintain data as necessary to assist with project management and decision making.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Current Professional Engineer license within the State of Alaska.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience as structural engineer on large complex multimillion dollar federal construction projects, preferably USACE and/or Department of Defense.

Non-destructive inspection (NDI) experience; AISC certification.

Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) Shield and ICD 705 construction requirements.

Knowledge of and experience with High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) design and construction requirements preferred.
