Base pay range $90,000.00/yr – $110,000.00/yr
Position Overview Ziegler is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Chicago. This role supports our accounting efforts and provides a broad range of experiences. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the firm’s Controller and plays a key role in day‑to‑day accounting operations. Responsibilities include financial reporting, development and maintenance of accounting principles, general ledger preparation, Treasurer functions, year‑end audit preparation and budget support.
Responsibilities
Conduct treasurer cash management functions
Provide accounting support for broker‑dealer activities and assist with month‑end close activities
Complete broker‑dealer net capital compliance activities and regulatory reporting
Serve as the liaison with investment banking, capital markets and private equity areas
Assist in workplace expense management and fixed‑asset accounting
Ensure accurate deliverables for monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close
Manage private equity accounting activities
Assist in HUD accounting and regulatory reporting
Assist the Controller and CFO with ad hoc reporting and projects
Support budget activities
Assist in tax compliance
Respond to inquiries from CFO, CEO and other managers regarding financial results and special requests
Help develop and implement new procedures and features to enhance departmental workflow
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred
At least 3‑4 years of relevant accounting experience
Experience in broker‑dealer, municipal finance or auditing is preferred
Experience with Great Plains, Investran/Carta and expense management systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to multi‑task, work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
Demonstrated efficiency and flexibility in a fast‑paced environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
