About General Merchandise Experts of operations, process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, merchandised and available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The GM and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all GM areas of the store. This team also leads inventory accuracy, merchandise setup and pricing processes for all areas of the store. This team may also lead Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food-safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery of merchandise to our guests by owning pick, pack and ship fulfillment work. What You Will Do As a General Merchandise Team Leader, no two days are ever the same. Typical responsibilities include: Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including merchandising, pricing, and updating merchandise displays, promotions and price changes. Educate the team on operational procedures, stock management, and maintaining sales floor areas to support inventory management and store profitability. Assess reporting gaps in GM processes and help develop plans for your leader to review and approve. Act as an expert in operations, accuracy, process, and efficiency. Lead daily execution of tasks such as receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and posting promotional signs (as applicable). Assist with inventory accuracy, merchandise setup and maintenance, and pricing across store areas as directed. Assign daily tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic, aligned with business priorities. Help establish goals and hold team members accountable; support fulfillment processes when applicable and identify improvement opportunities. Collaborate with all teams and leaders to ensure the store is guest ready in alignment with leadership direction. Stay informed about trends and products to educate the team using Target communications and resources. Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team through coaching and development. Work a schedule that meets guest and business needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment while maintaining a compliant culture, including compliance with adult beverage laws where applicable. Demonstrate inclusivity, ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; model a safety culture and lead the team accordingly. Demonstrate safety leadership by recognizing safe behaviors, identifying hazards, and supporting incident response and timely reporting.
