Responsibilities The Staff Actuary uses statistics, financial theory, mathematics, and basic financial and actuarial principles to assess the impact of company decisions or situations. They have an in‑depth knowledge of at least one market or business segment and operate with a high level of autonomy for daily pricing, underwriting, statistics, reserving, forecasting, and other actuarial functions. The role communicates complex concepts, data, analysis, and results to diverse audiences and may manage small projects with limited external interaction.
Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics. Other Bachelor's or higher degrees may be considered.
Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
At least 3 years of actuarial experience.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to prepare documentation, facilitate training, and present findings.
Proficiency in PC tools including Word and Excel.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Programming skills in Access, SQL, Visual Basic, or other languages.
Actuarial experience in health insurance or related fields.
Experience with pharmacy or Medicare is a plus.
Compensation: $82,700.00 – $149,300.00 (may vary based on skills, experience, and location)
Employment Type: Full‑time
Seniority Level: Mid‑Senior level
Hybrid: In‑office requirement of 3 days a week
