Assistant Professor of Dance (2 Positions)
Hofstra University, located in Hempstead, NY, invites applications for two (2) full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor of Dance to begin on September 1, 2026. The successful candidates will join the nationally recognized Dance Program and contribute to training the next generation of dynamic and diverse dance artists, educators, and multidisciplinary scholars.
Responsibilities :
Teach a range of courses for undergraduates, including modern technique, ballet and pointe classes, jazz dance technique, and other areas such as choreography, somatics, contemporary partnering, Dance & Film, Dance & Technology.
Mentor students, direct dance concerts, curate repertory, choreograph for performances, and lead recruitment efforts both on and off campus.
Maintain a focused creative agenda and conduct ongoing professional activity to advance the university’s reputation.
Qualifications :
MFA or PhD in Dance or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum three years of university-level teaching experience and experience in student mentorship.
Passion for inclusive pedagogy and an innovative creative practice.
Preferred Qualifications :
Significant record of work in the professional field.
