Glen Raven Material Solutions a division of Glen Raven Inc, is recruiting for a Director of Retail Sales. The Director of Retail for Material Solutions Group oversees all retail relationships with the goal of growing both Sunbrella sales and brand presence for both outdoor and indoor within each retail channel.
This position requires directly managing the major retail, catalog, e-commerce, national retail, training/education and retail operations team members.
***This is a hybrid role, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. Our office is in Burlington, NC. Open for relocation assistance*** Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all retail partnerships, with direct management of retail team members, both channel managers and supporting roles
Increase Sunbrella presence at retail, revenue of Sunbrella fabric through retail channels, and broaden specification of Sunbrella across categories
Work alongside the sales leads for Furniture Manufacturing to implement and execute the push/pull strategy in sync with the manufacturers and suppliers servicing the retailers
Align with design on best product offering and work alongside marketing to set strategic retail marketing initiatives and capture opportunities
Develop needed retail aspects of Material Solutions Group business plan and execute on objectives, strategies, and tactics
Analyze sales, and full order cycle, providing feedback to the business along the way and supporting retail accounts with updates
Keep up-to-date on retail market trends and industry intelligence
Evaluate market conditions and competitive landscape to develop opportunities for business growth in the US or Global Retail environment
Identify new and up-and-coming retailers and develop early relationships to solidify future growth with key players
Attend and represent Glen Raven/Sunbrella at Domestic and International Industry shows and events
International travel (Asia, Europe, other) annually to visit partners and to work with our international teams
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field or equivalent education and related training.
10+ years’ experience demonstrating success in retail environments, either working directly for a retailer or with retail partners. Understands the Omni channel nature of retail and how best to bring together the necessary elements to create a beneficial relationship with these retailers.
Has demonstrated the ability to form and build strong relationships with branded partners and valuable co-branded opportunities
Experience with consumer channels (Major Retail; DIY; Club; E-Com; Catalog, Specialty, etc). Experience building innovative retail strategy is preferred
Demonstrated capability to develop a high performing team; specific emphasis on someone who will be seen by the team and key stakeholders as a credible leader and talent builder
Director level or equivalent experience. The ideal candidate will have successful experience managing sales revenue, marketing initiatives, and successful product launches.
Dynamic customer interaction skills
Proven track record of success in promoting product growth
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Dynamic leader with exceptional communication and collaboration skills
The stature and interpersonal skills to be a compelling ambassador for the company
A creative self-starter driven to succeed in a ‘whatever it takes’ environment but also adaptive to the decision criteria of long‑term business building
