The Department of Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine and Riley Children’s Hospital at Indiana University Health is seeking a Child Psychiatrist to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana. Monday - Sunday; 7 days on 7 days off

100% inpatient

Opportunities for teaching and research

Key Responsibilities

Providers will provide pediatric hospitalist care as well as child psychiatric care for patients on this unit.

Patient presentations may include the following:

Following presumed or known suicide attempt or other significant self‑injury.

Need for psychiatric inpatient treatment in context of ongoing medical care such as IV meds, monitoring, G‑tube, wound care, etc.

Eating disorder condition requiring immediate medical intervention before eligible for Eating Program.

Substance use resulting in non‑intentional overdose.

Patients with TBI associated behavioral issues who are not appropriate for rehab.

Chronic Pain/CRPS associated with significant functional impairment.

FNSD patients who have a previously confirmed diagnosis, and symptoms are preventing safe discharge.

Cyclic Vomiting or cannabinoid hyperemesis requiring inpatient care.

Medical admission due to recurrent known non‑adherence or transferring from PICU for medical admission resulting from nonadherence, e.g. diabetes.

Medical condition with CNS involvement contributing to psychiatric symptoms (autoimmune encephalitis or neuropsychiatric lupus).

Qualifications

MD, DO or foreign equivalent

Board Certified / Board Eligible

Triple Board – pediatrics, psychiatry, child psychiatry, or pediatric portal trained child psychiatrists/pediatricians

Valid medical license in the state of Indiana

Strong clinical skills with a patient‑centered approach

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
