Responsibilities
- Craft a calendar of activities spanning social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational, and physical dimensions.
- Complete the “Preferences for Routine and Activities” section of the MDS, the CAA when prompted, and the Company Recreation/Activity Evaluation within five business days of admission.
- Design admissions interviews, document experiences, and integrate them into residents’ care plans.
- Create monthly activity calendars, anticipating resident interests and staffing needs.
- Assess resident preferences, uncover hidden passions, and address health concerns that may affect engagement.
- Develop personalized care plans to empower residents to reclaim vitality.
- Strategize ways for residents to overcome participation barriers.
- Build community partnerships to link staff, families, and residents.
- Ensure physician approval for activity involvement and maintain precautionary lists.
- Encourage group and individual pursuits (arts, crafts, outings, religious activities, etc.).
Qualifications
- Certified Activity Director accreditation.
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy or related field; licensed or registered nationally or in state of practice.
- At least one year as an Activity Director in long‑term care.
- Minimum two years recent experience designing social and recreational programs, including one year in a healthcare setting.
