Your role and responsibilities

DataStax, now part of IBM, is seeking talented software engineers to develop OpenSearch capabilities for our Cloud and On-Premises AI PaaS. You will contribute to open source projects similar to Apache Cassandra and Apache Pulsar, aiming to build a comprehensive AI PaaS powered by Langflow, OpenSearch, and Apache Cassandra. This role is based in San Jose, CA.

What you will do:

  • Develop features, enhancements, and fix bugs in DataStax AI PaaS, utilizing OpenSearch, Apache Cassandra, and Langflow.
  • Innovate bi-directional integration methods between OpenSearch and Apache Cassandra.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and open source communities to drive innovation.
  • Apply solid engineering practices in architecture, testing, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Engage with the OpenSearch community to foster growth.

Qualifications:

Required technical and professional expertise:

  • 7-9 years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Ability to balance quality and speed in development.
  • Experience in programming distributed, high-throughput applications.
  • Deep knowledge of Java and JVM ecosystem libraries.
  • Understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design.
  • Strong Java coding skills; familiarity with Python and Golang is a plus.
  • Experience with concurrency and distributed computing issues.
  • Experience with at least one major public cloud provider.

Preferred experience:

  • Contributions to open source projects like OpenSearch or ElasticSearch.
  • Experience with Go, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Compensation: $135,400 per year
