About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established organization in Stamford, CT to identify an experienced Payroll Manager for an immediate opening. This is a critical leadership role overseeing comprehensive payroll operations for a workforce of over 4,000 employees.

Position Overview

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing across multiple pay groups and bargaining units. This role requires someone who can hit the ground running and take ownership of complex payroll operations in a fast-paced municipal environment.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee full-cycle payroll processing for 4,000+ employees across 20 different pay groups Manage weekly and bi-weekly Board of Education payroll Ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery across multiple bargaining units Coordinate various pay schemes and compensation structures Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations Collaborate with HR, Finance, and departmental leadership Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries Generate payroll reports and analytics as needed

Required Qualifications

5+ years of progressive payroll management experience Proven experience managing payroll for large employee populations (1,000+ employees preferred) Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and compliance requirements Experience with multiple pay groups and bargaining unit structures Advanced proficiency in Excel and payroll systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

Ceridian Dayforce experience strongly preferred Municipal or government payroll experience CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation Experience with union/bargaining unit payroll #INNOV2025
