Manifold Bio
Manifold Bio is a dynamic biotech company building a pipeline of targeted biologics using a novel in vivo-centric discovery approach.
Our drug discovery engine is differentiated by massively parallel screening in vivo from the beginning of our discovery process. This unique platform is powered by a proprietary protein barcoding technology that allows multiplexed protein quantitation at unprecedented scale and sensitivity. We combine this and other high-throughput protein engineering approaches with computational design to create antibody‑like drugs and other biologics. Our world‑class team of protein engineers, biologists, and computational scientists are working together to aim the platform at therapeutic opportunities where precise targeting is the key to overcoming clinical challenges.
Position Manifold Bio is seeking an experienced biotherapeutics expert to join our growing team pursuing our mission of multiplexed, in vivo drug discovery. This role will drive the protein therapeutic workflow at Manifold, from discovery through CMC. The ideal candidate will have extensive protein engineering experience across diverse formats and modalities and deep knowledge of protein production strategies to supply high throughput screening pipelines. You will focus on deploying cutting edge protein engineering technologies to reach best‑in‑class product profiles in a timely and cost‑effective manner. Further, you will engage the rest of the R&D team to integrate your approaches with the unique protein multiplexing technology we’ve developed at Manifold. You will be a critical part of our transition from a discovery stage to a clinical stage company, bringing ample experience taking molecules through IND, particularly with regard to biologics manufacturing. Together, we’ll continue to build a transformational company based on the vision of massively increasing the throughput of testing of protein therapeutic designs to fundamentally change the current paradigm of drug development.
Responsibilities
Leading internal protein sciences and protein engineering teams
Own strategy for early stage de‑risking and optimization of lead molecules
Own strategy for developability assessment
Work with internal and external team members to ensure cost‑effective and timely drug manufacture
Build internal expertise on cutting‑edge protein engineering techniques
Guide prioritization for internal protein generation efforts, balancing between screening and lead characterization
Build an R&D‑to‑development pipeline for lead candidates
Utilize state of the art techniques to drive the development of best‑in‑class therapeutic candidates
Stay up to speed on cutting edge research and industry standards for protein therapeutics
Required Qualifications
Experience taking multiple molecules through IND and into the clinic
Deep understanding of protein production techniques, including mammalian cell culture and purification/characterization approaches
Expertise in novel biotherapeutic modalities, across a range of formats
Extensive experience leading cross‑functional teams
Experience with complex biologics (e.g. multispecifics)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with drug development in neuroscience
Experience liaising with CDMOs through IND
Experience with generative AI models for protein design
Why you might be a good fit
Progressing molecules from bench to bedside gets you out of bed in the morning
You’re excited about utilizing state of the art protein engineering techniques to tackle complex medical challenges
You relish the opportunity to develop a wide scope of construct formats and moieties
You have the organizational skills and flexibility to manage the activities of a diverse team tackling multiple engineering challenges simultaneously
You are a team player with enthusiasm for working collaboratively to solve challenging problems
If you’re excited to build a platform that combines DNA and protein multiplexing technologies, please apply!
We value different experiences and ways of thinking and believe the most talented teams are built by bringing together people of diverse cultures, genders, and backgrounds.
