Acute Pain Medicine & Regional Anesthesiologist, MedStar Georgetown, Washington, D.C.
MedStar Medical Group Anesthesiology (MMGA) is seeking a full‑time anesthesiologist with expertise in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine to serve on the Acute Pain Service at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The Service focuses on peripheral nerve and neuraxial catheter placement, multimodal analgesia, and stewardship of opioid utilization for patients undergoing spine, transplant, and other major surgeries.
Responsibilities
Perform an average of 1,200 regional anesthesia blocks per year for orthopedic and plastic surgery patients.
Place peripheral nerve and neuraxial catheters for acute and chronic pain management.
Implement multimodal analgesia protocols, with a focus on spine and transplant surgical patients.
Collaborate with surgical teams, pain medicine specialists, and nursing staff to optimize patient outcomes.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as a member of the MedStar Georgetown academic community.
Qualifications
Board‑certified anesthesiologist with a current medical license in Washington, D.C.
Specialized training or extensive experience in regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex pain protocols and opioid stewardship.
Excellent communication skills and a commitment to collaborative, patient‑centered care.
Compensation $430,000.00 – $460,000.00 annually (salary range; additional compensation based on performance and market considerations).
