Description
Provide day‑to‑day supervision of security/fire staff for the General Motors account and travel between sites as required.
Function as mentor to security supervisors and officers.
Ensure compliance with the General Motors Global Security Manual, local site SOPs, and Supplier Standard Operating Procedures.
Operate with honesty, ethics, and professionalism.
Evaluate risks and maintain adequate coverage for assigned sites, including post orders and associated regulations.
Advise management on emergency situations and ensure appropriate subordinate response.
Research and recommend best practices and key initiatives, ensuring supplier policies and procedures are implemented.
Interface with plant/site management on security and fire prevention, identify problem areas, provide recommendation for solutions, and take corrective action.
Assist in the selection, orientation, development, and retention of staff in compliance with government regulations.
Provide emergency response advice to management and ensure staff respond appropriately.
Develop security staff deployment schedules to meet General Motors requirements.
Ensure security staff is trained to perform General Motors requirements.
Collaborate with GM Global Security Operations on progress, deadlines, and consistent practices.
Conduct quarterly and annual reviews using the Security Compliance System, maintaining corrective actions and recommendations.
Conduct annual site vulnerability assessments and recommend operational, policy, and technology improvements.
Accurately bill for security services and conduct weekly billing audits.
Monitor compliance with regulatory and fire prevention requirements assigned by General Motors.
Develop, maintain, and coordinate communication with outside emergency responders.
Administer the General Motors/Supplier Service Agreement and comply with all General Motors Labor Agreements.
Maintain data and records per General Motors Record Retention guidelines and requirements.
Ensure confidentiality and discretion of information.
Perform multiple functions from multiple resources while prioritizing assignments.
Recommend managerial methods to improve workflow, simplify reporting, or implement cost reductions.
Respond to site emergencies and direct security activities, ensuring staff react via site procedures and Supplier/GM Policies.
Ensure all incidents are reported, documented, and communicated following procedures; identify trends and enforce corrective actions.
Maintain basic first aid and CPR certifications.
Administer the hot work permit process correctly and maintain it.
Supervise security staff in fire functions as needed.
Report to designated site management/GM Global Security.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement; deviations require GM Global Security approval).
Five years of progressively responsible security experience (seven years preferred).
Working knowledge of the assigned environment for at least two years, or equivalent experience.
May be responsible for multiple facilities or a large campus.
Demonstrated understanding of security operations.
Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision.
Ability to organize workload for effective implementation.
Strong analytical skills for data analysis, conclusions, and innovative solutions.
Planning, organizational, and project management skills.
Verbal and written communication skills.
