West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine, section of Infectious Diseases seeks applicants qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. This is a faculty position with additional responsibilities as Hospital Epidemiologist for J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
Responsibilities
Practice in the areas of Infectious Diseases with additional responsibilities as Hospital Epidemiologist for J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
The WVUH Hospital Epidemiologist is responsible for providing the necessary leadership to promote the safety of patients, personnel, trainees and visitors.
Decrease the risk for healthcare associated infections to the irreducible minimum by limiting unprotected exposure to pathogens throughout WVUH.
Minimize the risk of transmission of infections associated with the use of procedures, medical equipment and medical devices.
Actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted state medical license.
Completed an accredited internal medicine residency program and infectious diseases fellowship.
Hold board certification in internal medicine by the time of appointment.
Our well-established Infectious Diseases section offers clinical responsibilities that include a highly active in-patient and ambulatory care program including outreach. The Section's educational programs include a Global Health and Tropical Medicine Program in addition to a two-year accredited fellowship in Infectious Diseases.
