Tax Manager – Compliance & Provision

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Industry: Global Manufacturing

We’re partnering with a global manufacturing leader seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee U.S. tax compliance and global tax provision functions. This position is ideal for someone with strong federal and state tax expertise, ASC 740 proficiency, and a proven ability to lead and develop a team.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, manage compliance for a complex, global business, and contribute to strategic tax planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and review of consolidated and separate company state and local income tax returns, including apportionment, modifications, and credit calculations.
• Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, including effective tax rate analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Manage U.S. taxable income and deferred tax calculations.
• Review and prepare federal and state estimated tax payments and extensions.
• Supervise and mentor tax team members, providing guidance and detailed review.
• Collaborate with international tax teams on foreign reporting (GILTI, FDII, BEAT, 163(j) calculations).
• Monitor tax regulatory updates and assess business impact.
• Manage U.S., state, and local tax audits, and support foreign audits.
• Assist with tax due diligence, post-acquisition planning, and integration efforts.
• Maintain compliance with global tax controls and Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404.
• Lead process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in tax operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA strongly preferred).
• 5+ years of federal and state tax compliance and provision experience.
• Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and global tax reporting.
• Experience managing and developing tax teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
