Under the minimal direction of the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall management of Treasury and General Accounting in UCR's Accounting Office. This role includes developing financial models, strategies, and recommendations to inform executive‑level decision making and support campus‑wide integrated strategic planning processes to maximize income on cash balances and long‑term working capital. The manager also determines the feasibility of funding capital projects and initiatives that are consistent with liquidity, cash flow, and risk budget requirements.
Responsibilities
Overall management of Treasury and General Accounting.
Develop financial models, strategies, and recommendations for executive decision making and campus‑wide integrated strategic planning.
Determine feasibility of funding capital projects and initiatives in line with liquidity, cash flow, and risk budget requirements.
Oversee general accounting functions: capitalization, depreciation, unrelated business income tax reporting, sales/use tax reporting/audits, NCAA audit, journal generation, month‑end and fiscal‑year‑end closing, non‑payroll cost transfers, inter‑campus transfers, and campus recharges.
Provide direction to five staff positions performing high‑level accounting activities.
Develop office and campus‑wide policies and procedures, including internal control systems and complex accounting solutions applying NACUBO and GASB fund‑accounting principles.
Interact extensively with the campus community and external auditors.
Participate in the Accounting Office management team in planning future activities and incorporating latest technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
Relevant education, licensure, and certifications (e.g., CPA) – not specified but required.
Extensive experience in treasury management and general accounting.
Experience leading accounting staff and managing complex accounting functions.
Knowledge of NACUBO and GASB fund‑accounting principles.
Proficiency in developing financial models and strategic recommendations for executive level decision making.
Salary
Full salary range: $93,200–$174,200 annually. Expected pay scale up to $133,700 annually.
