The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and experienced in performing and leading cybersecurity assessments and audits using NIST standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171). You exhibit team-oriented interpersonal skills and the ability to interface effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and advocate for changes in policy that support organizational cyberspace initiatives.
Summary
As a Cybersecurity Consultant, you will lead and/or participate on teams in the assessment of our client’s cybersecurity readiness and digital defenses, ensuring compliance with standards by performing security audits, vulnerability scans, and gap/risk analyses ensuring our clients’ enterprise risk is minimized while bridging technical gaps and communicating findings to stakeholders to protect systems, data, and networks from threats.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leads comprehensive audits of security policies, infrastructure, systems, and operational technical security controls/enhancements employed within an information technology (IT) system
Oversees, evaluates, and supports the documentation, validation, assessment, and authorization processes necessary to ensure existing and new information technology (IT) systems meet the clients’ cybersecurity and risk requirements
Coordinates compliance efforts, ensuring appropriate treatment of risk, compliance, and adherence to industry regulations, legal requirements, and best practices
Designs sustainable risk management structures and compliance processes
Assists team with documentation of policies and plans to include: Security Architecture, System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, and Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms)
Builds reports and delivers presentations to senior level stakeholders for project status meetings
Provides subject matter expertise on matters including governance and oversight, standards and processes, tools and technology, metrics and reporting
Advocates for changes in policy supporting organizational cybersecurity initiatives
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
Minimum 7 years in IT audits demonstrating proficiency in IT standards, security, and control practices
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems Security, or related field
Strong understanding of cybersecurity controls assessments
Strong understanding of the principles of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, security controls outlined in NIST 800-53 rev 4, NIST 800-171
Proven team leadership and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to write clearly, succinctly, appealing to a wide audience
Preferred:
Experience in secure network architecture and network security is a plus
Cybersecurity related certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA)
