Position Information

  • Title: Preschool Teacher & Extended Care Coordinator
  • Reports To: Preschool Director
  • Employment Type: Part‑time, Salaried, Exempt
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. (schedule may differ on days without extended care)
  • Start Date: November 17 2025

Role Overview

This position supports Donum Dei’s mission by nurturing the youngest learners through Christ‑centered instruction while also guiding preschool staff, maintaining alignment with school‑wide values, and fostering a joyful, safe, and orderly environment.

Responsibilities

Instruction & Classroom Leadership (12 p.m.–3:30 p.m.)

  • Develop and deliver engaging, age‑appropriate lesson plans aligned with classical education philosophy and biblical principles.
  • Teach integrated subjects, helping students connect learning across disciplines.
  • Bring God’s Word to life through practical applications that promote character development and virtue formation.

Student Support & Care

  • Create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel valued and loved.
  • Assist children with bathroom needs and teach proper hygiene habits such as handwashing.
  • Prepare children for nap time, supervise rest periods, and maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
  • Observe developmental progress or concerns and communicate findings to the Preschool Lead Teacher.

Classroom Management & Communication

  • Implement classroom management strategies that promote order, respect, and joy.
  • Maintain a structured yet warm classroom, ensuring visual beauty and minimizing clutter.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, classroom activities, and updates.
  • Participate in parent‑teacher conferences as needed.

Extended Care Coordinator (3:30 p.m.–6:00 p.m.)

  • Oversee preschool‑aged children in after‑school extended care, ensuring a structured and engaging environment.
  • Foster positive social interactions, guiding cooperative play, sharing, and conflict resolution.
  • Provide a seamless transition from the school day to extended care, balancing structured activities with free play.

End‑of‑Day Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and orderly setting during extended care hours.
  • Close the preschool classroom at day’s end, preparing the space for the following day.
  • Coordinate with the Academy’s Extended Care Coordinator to ensure campus security and clean‑up.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • All requirements must be met under one of the following options:
  • Option 1:
    • 12 core semester units in early childhood education/development.
    • At least 6 months experience in a licensed child‑care center or comparable program.
  • Option 2:
    • 6 completed units of early childhood education.
    • Enrollment in at least 2 semester units at a college until fully qualified.

Experience

  • Professional working experience in the relevant field(s).

Faith & Conduct

  • Be devoted to the truth of the Gospel and to Jesus as Lord.
  • Serve as a minister of the Gospel.
  • Be in good standing with a Christian church, including weekly attendance and participation as an active worshipper.

Professional Development

  • Commitment to ongoing training and spiritual formation throughout the year.

Compensation

  • Annual salary: $43,000–$44,000 (Campus) paid bi‑monthly.
  • Sick pay: Up to 72 hours per school year, 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
  • Optional partial tuition credit available. Employees who are also DDCA parents may allocate a portion of salary toward child tuition. The credit is tax‑exempt and applied proportionally each pay period.

Pay Range

$43,000 – $44,000 USD per year (Campus)
