About the Role
Reporting to the chief commercial officer, the sales director drives revenue growth by leading a national team of national sales executives and inside sales reps. This role develops and executes strategic sales plans, expands market share, and strengthens customer relationships. This includes developing and implementing a business development/expansion plan that drives sales growth YoY. It also includes guiding and mentoring inside sales reps in their support of key account executives’ wallet expansion efforts. It requires close collaboration with key leaders across the organization to align strategies and achieve business goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales plans that meet revenue targets and expand market share
- Lead and inspire a national team of outside sales executives to achieve high performance
- Mentor and coach junior inside sales reps to build their skills and drive growth
- Identify market opportunities, trends and customer needs to shape sales strategies
- Oversee sales pipeline development, accurate forecasting and timely deal closures
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners and stakeholders
- Represent the company at industry events and trade shows to enhance brand visibility
- Work with marketing, product development and operations to align sales strategies with company goals
- Analyze sales metrics, market trends and competitive activities to optimize performance
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement
- Additional work duties as assigned
Education + Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field (or equivalent work experience) required
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years in sales roles, including leadership experience
- Proven track record in sales leadership, preferably in the print manufacturing, data analytics, logistics or paper sales industries
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales strategies that drive revenue growth
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach
- Entrepreneurial mindset and results-oriented attitude
- Proficient in CRM software, sales analytics tools and Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to travel 50%+ to meet customers and attend industry events
- Commitment to high standards of integrity and professionalism
