Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations for a growing company in the solar energy industry. The ideal candidate combines strong financial leadership with deep operational experience—particularly in warehouse management, inventory control, procurement, business development and supply‑chain optimization. This leader will guide financial strategy, improve operational efficiency, support scaling efforts, and ensure the company’s financial health during rapid growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute long‑term financial strategies aligned with corporate and market goals.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and KPI development.
- Provide analysis and insights to support executive decision‑making.
- Manage capital planning, debt financing, and cash‑flow management.
Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee all accounting operations, including AR/AP, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry‑specific reporting requirements.
- Manage external audits, banking relationships, tax preparation and investor reporting.
Warehouse, Inventory & Supply Chain Finance
- Implement financial controls across warehouse operations to ensure accurate inventory management.
- Oversee costing models for all inventoried products (panels, inverters, batteries, racking, etc.).
- Develop and optimize inventory tracking, valuation, cycle counts, and shrinkage controls.
- Analyze supply‑chain costs, vendor pricing, freight expenses, and procurement efficiency.
- Introduce systems (ERP/WMS) and processes to improve warehouse accuracy and operational visibility.
- Partner with Operations to manage capacity planning, logistics budgeting, and inventory forecasting.
Operational Leadership
- Design and improve workflow processes between Finance, Sales, Operations, and Warehouse teams.
- Support project job costing for residential, commercial, and utility‑scale solar installations.
- Oversee financial performance of multiple revenue streams (product sales, installation, service, EPC, O&M).
- Ensure financial risks are identified, quantified, and mitigated.
- Lead ERP, WMS, CRM, and accounting integrations to streamline operations.
- Implement data dashboards for real‑time financial and inventory visibility.
- Ensure data integrity and high‑quality reporting across departments.
Team Development
- Build and mentor a high‑performing finance and accounting team.
- Establish financial and operational KPIs company‑wide.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of senior financial leadership experience, ideally in solar, renewable energy, construction, or manufacturing.
- Strong experience with warehouse operations and inventory management.
- Proven success managing cost accounting, supply‑chain finance, and procurement.
- Experience scaling high‑growth operational businesses.
- Proficiency with ERP, WMS, and financial reporting systems.
- Strong analytical skills, communication skills, and executive presence.
Preferred Experience
- Solar EPC, solar distribution, storage systems, or related clean‑energy sectors.
- Familiarity with project‑based accounting and WIP reporting.
- Knowledge of federal/state incentives, ITC programs, and renewable‑energy financing structures.
- Experience optimizing freight, logistics, and warehouse workflow costs.
