Job Overview
As an SDE II in the Amazon Foundational Security Services (AFSS) organization at AWS, you will shape the future of AWS’s security and foundational infrastructure. You will work on complex challenges, design secure, maintainable, scalable, and extendable software systems, and contribute to technology decisions.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain robust solutions for security and foundational infrastructure.
• Design and develop secure, maintainable, scalable software.
• Understand business impact and balance short‑term operations with long‑term objectives.
• Participate in team strategy discussions and contribute to technology decisions.
• Provide technical solutions that promote simplicity and maintainability.
• Collaborate with the team, set best‑practice standards, and build consensus across differing viewpoints.
• Own configuration management services that provision and manage security and performance configurations for large fleets of Linux hosts.
This role requires a range of technical talents including system design, software development, operational excellence, and decision making.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
Experience programming in at least one software programming language.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations).
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Compensation
