Job Description
Phlebotomist III Site Lead – Chicago, IL – Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with rotational weekends.
Proof of COVID‑19 vaccination required; unvaccinated employees will be subject to regular testing.
Pay range: $22.94 – $26.40 per hour. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Role Summary
The PSR III – Site Lead represents Quest Diagnostics to patients in various settings. The role involves drawing high‑quality blood samples, preparing specimens for lab testing, and ensuring accuracy and safety. The Site Lead directs daily activity at a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In‑Office Phlebotomy (IOP), leads more than one PSR, and provides coaching, mentoring, and onboarding for new staff. The role requires strong customer‑facing skills, the ability to handle multiple priorities in a high‑volume environment, and collaboration across functions.
Responsibilities
Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams.
Administer oral solutions according to established training.
Research test/client information and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or service directories.
Enter billing information, collect payments when required, and safeguard assets and credit card information.
Perform data entry and processing of specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required.
Conduct departmental clerical duties such as inventory, stock supplies, and answer phones when needed.
Ensure compliance with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures, including manuals and the Employee Handbook.
Verify patient demographic information and patient signatures post‑venipuncture.
Assist with the compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
Maintain phlebotomy logs, temperature logs, and other required records.
Complete required training courses and stay current with phlebotomy techniques.
Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off‑site or off‑shift.
Participate on special projects and teams.
Stay up‑to‑date on company communications and distribute technical information to the work group.
Perform point‑of‑care testing at designated sites and complete competency evaluations.
Mentor and support new employees, assisting with transition into the PSC work environment.
Assist with periodic inventory counts and report shortages or problems to leadership.
Assist with schedule preparation for the assigned work group or PSCs.
Communicate professionally with clients to resolve or refer issues, documenting problems and reporting critical issues.
Ensure staff follows safety precautions, including clean lab coats, gloves, and face shields when required.
Assist supervisors with the implementation of SOPs and distribution of technical information.
Maintain facilities cleanliness and report necessary repairs and maintenance.
Act as a coach, mentor, instructor, and resource advisor for new employees; serve as point of contact to staff on‑site.
Provide onboarding services to new clients.
Collaborate with supervisors and group leaders to support office setup for PSCs and IOPs.
Step in for a PSR II and lead one or more PSRs on site.
Qualifications – Required Work Experience
Five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Keyboard/data entry experience.
Flexible and available for staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on‑call, and overtime.
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
Travel and flexible hours required to work multiple locations and cover PSC, mobile, long‑term care, and IOP locations with minimal notice.
Preferred Work Experience
Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred.
Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Lift light to moderately heavy objects (1–15 lbs frequently, 16–25 lbs occasionally, 26–40 lbs seldom). Objects >41 lbs require assistance.
Ability to sit or stand for long periods; requires eye and hand coordination.
Perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand throughout the day.
Requires travel.
Extensive use of phone and PC.
Fine dexterity, steadiness, speaking, walking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching/twisting.
Knowledge

Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states such as California, Nevada, Washington, and Louisiana).
