Accounting Manager
Location: Western Suburbs of Chicago (Hybrid – approx. 2–3 days per month onsite)
Reports To: Controller
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our Accounting & Finance team. This is a newly created position on this team, and will have 3‑4 direct reports. This role is responsible for the review and preparation of month‑end close activities, complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements. The Accounting Manager will also support the Controller and Finance leadership with variance analysis, special projects, and handling the most complex accounting transactions within the department.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and review monthly close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Oversee a staff of 3‑4 accountants
Prepare, review, and analyze complex journal entries and reconciliations
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Perform detailed variance analysis and support forecasting needs
Assist with special projects, process improvements, and reporting enhancements
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Finance, Operations, and other internal teams
Required Qualifications
12+ years of corporate accounting experience, including month‑end close
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Strong understanding of GAAP
Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare industry experience, not required
This is a hybrid role requiring 2‑3 days per month onsite in the western Chicago suburbs. The remainder of the work may be performed remotely within the state of Illinois.
Compensation
Salary Range: $115,000 to $130,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
This position is eligible for an annual merit increase and incentive bonus.
