Medical Director (Part-Time) (Temporary)
Remote, California
Overview
This part‑time temporary position will last from December to March, with possible extension. The assignment length will depend on business need. You will be an employee of a temporary employment agency, working remotely within California or the greater US with a valid California Board‑Certified Medical License.
Time commitment is 8‑16 hours per week during our standard business hours (Monday‑Friday 8:00‑5:00 PM PST). Some schedule flexibility may be available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, you will provide clinical leadership and oversight for key medical management functions, including Utilization Management (UM), Potential Quality Issue (PQI), and Provider Disputes.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of:
- Data collection and management practices related to utilization and quality of medical care
- InterQual and Milliman Care Guidelines
- Managed care, Medi‑Cal, Medicaid, and Medicare programs
- Healthcare regulatory processes
- Proficiency with Jiva
- Ability to:
- Navigate complex systems independently to implement new programs efficiently
- Communicate clearly and consistently and collaborate with stakeholders such as patients, community‑based organizations, and healthcare providers
- Evaluate programs qualitatively and quantitatively and use these evaluations to drive ongoing quality improvement
- Education and Experience:
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from an accredited medical school, a current active and unrestricted California medical license, Board certification in a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, and at least three years of experience in medical program administration, including the peer review process. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also qualify.
Other Information
- We anticipate the interview process will take place remotely via Microsoft Teams.
- Attendance at quarterly company‑wide events or department meetings will be expected for staff on full telecommuting schedules.
- In‑office or in‑community presence may be required for some positions, depending on business need; details will be discussed during the interview process.

The full compensation range for this position is listed by location below. The actual compensation will be determined by our compensation philosophy, analysis of the selected candidate’s qualifications, education or training, other factors such as internal equity, market factors, and geographic location.
