Senior Manufacturing Engineer
What We Are Looking For
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a critical, highly visible role responsible for driving significant operational excellence and manufacturing capability improvements within the Fabrication (sheet metal, tube/piping fabrication) and Electrical Panel Assembly areas. This position acts as a change agent, leading major factory transformations, managing capital expenditure projects, and embedding Lean methodologies to achieve sustained productivity, quality, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence and Process Improvement
Lead the deployment and sustainment of the company’s Operational Excellence (OpEx) model, focusing on Standard Work (SW), Leader Standard Work (LSW), and Tier Accountability Processes in assigned areas.
Plan, lead, and execute targeted Kaizen events and rapid improvement projects to eliminate waste, improve quality, and reduce manufacturing cycle time.
Utilize advanced Lean Six Sigma tools, including PFMEA and Poka‑Yoke, to identify and resolve complex manufacturing issues and prevent recurrence.
Conduct rigorous industrial engineering analysis, including line balancing, work content calculation, and headcount calculation, to optimize resource utilization and support production volume requirements.
Major Projects and Capital Management
Lead major capital projects from concept through final commissioning and successful handover to production, including justifying expenditures (ROI/NPV), managing vendor selection, and overseeing installation.
Act as the technical lead for implementing new automation and technology within focus factories, ensuring equipment and processes meet safety, quality, and production specifications.
Lead and manage major layout and process reconfigurations necessary for plant restructuring or new product introductions, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
Quality and Design Integration
Utilize proficient, structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC, Red‑X, DOE) to resolve high‑impact chronic production and quality issues.
Serve as the manufacturing liaison, collaborating with Design Engineering and Product Engineering teams to implement Design Intended Cost Improvement and ensure optimal manufacturability and cost efficiency of new and revised products.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
7+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing engineering role within a fast‑paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical field experience.
Strong electrical and/or mechanical background required; proficiency in designing, deploying, and auditing Standard Work, Line Balancing, and Capacity Planning.
Proficiency in structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, A3) and experience facilitating PFMEA workshops.
CAD and CAM fundamentals knowledge and demonstrated skills.
Demonstrated experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and practical application of tools like Kaizen, 5S, and Visual Management.
Proven ability to lead and manage cross‑functional teams and projects, including experience managing CapEx projects from justification through installation.
Proven ability to influence and motivate change across all levels of the organization, particularly on the shop floor.
Highly analytical, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear action plans and justifiable business cases (ROI).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical information clearly to technicians, managers, and executive leadership.
Desired Fit
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt preferred).
Proficient in Excel, Minitab, Word, Visio.
Experience or strong understanding of refrigeration components, systems, or manufacturing processes is a significant plus.
