Join to apply for the Water-Wastewater - Water Resources Engineer role at AECOM. The Water Business line is seeking a talented Water-Wastewater - Water Resources Engineer to support our Water, Wastewater, and Water Resources practice based in the New England Area - Chelmsford, MA, Boston, MA, or Rocky Hill, CT.
The selected mid-level engineer will focus on water/wastewater/water resources utility planning, design, and condition assessment. Tasks include site investigations, field measurements, utility investigations, capacity studies, condition assessments, conceptual through final design, cost estimating, and construction administration/observation. There are opportunities to develop professionally through collaboration with senior engineers, project managers, clients, regulatory agencies, and subject matter experts, as well as attendance at professional conferences.
Responsibilities for state, municipal, and private clients include, but are not limited to:
- Provide technical support for a variety of utility design projects, including treatment plants, pump/booster stations, water lines and collection lines design, rehabilitation, master planning, and construction administration.
- Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.
- Work under supervision of a project manager in the water/wastewater/water resources practice or senior level team members.
- Utilize engineering principles, judgment, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems.
- Perform routine or detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and engineering analyses.
- Propose approaches to solve new problems and identify discrepancies in outcomes, results, and analyses.
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
- Record and interpret data, conduct analyses, prepare reports, and compare findings to relevant studies and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Perform data gathering site visits, field measurements, mapping, and observations during construction.
- Provide construction support for review of shop drawings, requests for information, and site visits to the construction.
- Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline, plus 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- 2+ years of experience in planning, modeling, and/or design of water, wastewater, and stormwater utility projects.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain in 6 months.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License and must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review.
Preferred Qualifications
- Progressive experience with water/wastewater utility planning, modeling, condition assessment, and design.
- Basic knowledge of industry standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS, hydrologic/hydraulic models).
- Strong time management, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate with technicians, designers, engineers, project managers, clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, and the public to deliver high-quality work.
- Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment with growth potential and the ability to learn.
- Detail-oriented while understanding project goals, and the ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Flexible and able to adapt to shifting priorities and work schedules.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00.
